We are all going through tough times, and now more than ever, it’s so important that we all find a healthy head-space by practicing self-care.

This routine is essential for your well being, productivity and creativity.  I’ve put together a variety of tips for self-care to reduce stress and bring joy to your life.

What is Self Care?

According to Psychology Today, self-care is a regular, intentional process of devoting oneself to protecting and sustaining mental health. It is backed by science and not just feel good, self-indulgent sentiments.

The first ideas that comes to mind when brainstorming tips for self care (take a deep breathe), is setting aside time for relaxation.

This can mean expressing gratitude in a beautiful journal or drinking a cup of warm tea.  Listening to relaxing musican uplifting podcast, escaping with a creative project–all help to calm the nerves.

How Do You Learn Self-Care?

Learning self-care starts with saying, “NO”. Don’t overbook your life otherwise your tank becomes empty and life starts to feel like a giant chore.  Instead, reserve time for YOU!

Self-care comes in a variety of forms and feeling beautiful is most definitely one of them. Personally, I love the feeling of being at a spa and try my best to recreate the feeling at home.

For example, applying a deep moisture face mask or lighting a beautiful candle while taking a long bath will rejuvenate your energy after a long day.  Checkout the Headspace app if you are looking to further lower your stress.

A funny movie or reading hilarious memes is a great idea as well…laughter goes a long way when it comes to self-care tips.

Tips For Self Care Continued...

A daily exercise routine is one of the best investments when it comes to self-care.  Choose your favorite workout apps and there are endless possibilities for getting in shape at home (I’m in love with the Kayla Itsines and Peloton apps).

Eating healthy and incorporating more greens in your diet is another wonderful way to speed up your self-care. Checkout the Omega Juicer for optimal nutrients and energy.

If you are not sure what foods work best for your system, then it’s a great idea to take the food sensitivity test from Everlywell.

You will be happily surprised by the detailed report explaining which foods work well and foods you should avoid for feeling your best.

Yoga is also an amazing self care tip because it balances the mind, body, and spirit while giving you an incredible workout.

What Do You Do On Self-Care Days?

The world is your oyster and you can do anything that makes you feel happy and energized during the self-care day.

You can always call and connect with someone who brings joy and laughter into your life, or simply do something kind and thoughtful for someone else.

Your pet can also be incredibly therapeutic to be around when you are having a self-care day.  Most importantly, having positive thoughts and intentions while giving back to others, is a wonderful self-care tip.

If you have any of your own tips for self-care, I invite you to please leave a friendly comment below.  I really appreciate your support and always look forward to hearing from you.

  3. These are great tips Molly and I couldn’t agree more that selfcare is so important. I read somewhere awhile ago that “you can’t pour into an empty cup” and that’s absolutely so right. I know that once I have given myself the proper care I feel so much better being a mom, wife, etc. For me, working out helps me feel not only good but it helps me feel productive. It helps with my stress while also exercising my mental muscle. I hope you are having a great Saturday so far!
